How importing works
Acorny brings highlights in three ways. Capture them live with the browser extension as you read on the web. Import a file — a Kindle My Clippings.txt, a PDF, or a JSON or CSV export from another app. Or sync through an API, including a Readwise-compatible endpoint that lets Readwise, Readest, and Moon+ Reader clients push highlights automatically.
However you bring them in, every highlight lands in one searchable library with its source, author, and context attached. Duplicate highlights from repeated imports are detected and merged, so re-running a sync never clutters your review queue. From there, turn any highlight into an active recall card and review it with spaced repetition.

Frequently asked questions
Can I import my highlights from Readwise?
Yes. Import your full Readwise library through the Readwise API or a CSV export. Your original Readwise account and data stay exactly as they are.
Will importing create duplicate highlights?
No. Acorny detects highlights you have already imported and merges duplicates, so re-running a sync will not clutter your library or review queue.
Which file formats can I import?
Kindle My Clippings.txt, PDF annotations, Cubox and Moon+ Reader exports, and Acorny, Readwise, or Diigo CSV files.
Can I export my highlights back out?
Yes. Export to Markdown, JSON, or CSV any time, or sync continuously to Obsidian or SiYuan with the official plugins. Your highlights are yours.
